Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola hopes that there will be progress in the pursuit of Cesc Fabregas before the end of the week.
The European champions are expected to make a new £35million offer for the Arsenal captain after failing in three previous attempts to re-sign the Spaniard.
Fabregas began his career in Barcelona's Academy and wants to return to his boyhood club, but Arsene Wenger is understandably unwilling to sell his skipper.
Guardiola is reported to be unhappy with Barcelona president Sandro Rosell for his failure to sign Fabregas earlier in the summer, however, the manager expects developments.
"Now the situation about moves for reinforcements is very complicated, but I'm hopeful in the next few days it will become clear," he said on Catalunya Radio.
"I'm always optimistic."
Meanwhile, Barcelona are on the verge of completing the £40million signing of Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez after a long pursuit.
