Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he intends to bring Japanese starlet Ryo Miyaichi into his squad this season.
The 18-year-old signed for the Gunners in January and was immediately loaned out to Feyenoord, where he made a huge impression.
He was widely expected to move back to Holland for another loan spell, but Wenger has now revealed that he is set to be given his chance to begin his Emirates career.
Miyaichi has joined up with the Arsenal squad on their tour of Asia and Wenger is delighted with his progress.
"Ryo has been a fantastic surprise to us," Wenger said.
"He did well at Feyenoord after basically coming from school football.
"He is a very exciting prospect because he is quick and has a quick brain."
Wenger also confirmed that Emmanuel Frimpong, who missed all of last season due to a knee injury, is ready to get his first-team chance too.
"We are very happy to have Frimpong back because he had a good start last year but unfortunately got an injury," said Wenger.
