Edy Reja is hopeful Lazio can complete a deal to sign Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse.
The Italian outfit have expressed their interest in the France international and have held talks with Panathinaikos.
The 29-year-old has scored 42 league goals in two seasons with the Greek side but is under contract for another two years.
Lazio have already made a host of summer signings and although Reja is eager to bring in Cisse too, he admits the Biancoceleste must offload a striker first.
"It would be a great signing," said Reja. "I call Cisse 'the beast' for how he moves on the pitch.
"I hope he arrives but, before that, we need one of our forwards to leave."
Lazio are thought to have agreed to pay Pana six million euros and offered the former Liverpool, Auxerre and Marseille striker a four-year contract.
Reja is keen to maintain the team's progress having finished fifth in Serie A to book a place in next season's Europa League.
