Stephen Crainey has committed his immediate future to Blackpool by penning a new two-year contract.
The deal also includes the option for a further 12-month extension should both sides be willing to prolong their association in 2013.
The 30-year-old Scotland international will now take his time with the Seasiders to at least the six-year mark.
He had been out of contract this summer following Blackpool's relegation out of the Premier League.
There was, however, always a desire on the club's behalf to get a deal done and Crainey has now put pen to paper.
It is understood that he had other options on the table, including an offer from Wigan, but has snubbed those advances in favour of an extended stay at Bloomfield Road.
