Phillips and Hill set for Seasiders

Skysports.com understands Blackpool are closing in on the double signing of Kevin Phillips and Matt Hill. As revealed by skysports.com on Thursday, Blackpool were in talks with Phillips about a free transfer to Bloomfield Road. The experienced striker is available after leaving Birmingham following their relegation from the Premier League last season. The 37-year-old is thought to have been offered a one-year deal at Blackpool and he has agreed to join Ian Holloway's men as they look to mount a bid to regain promotion at the first time of asking. Former Wolves defender Hill is also expected to arrive on a free transfer after holding talks with the club. Hill ended last season at Barnsley, but he left the Tykes in the summer after seeing out his contract. Preston expressed an interest in signing Hill, but it appears their local rivals Blackpool are set to win the race for the full-back's signature. Hill will help fill the void at left-back created by Stephen Crainey's departure following the expiry of his contract.
