Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of midfielder Jose Semedo from Charlton Athletic.

Semedo, 26, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal after his contract expired at The Valley. Owls manager Gary Megson said: "He has a very good reputation and comes with great recommendations. I spent some time with him in London after the end of the season and he came across really well. "He's really keen to play for Wednesday and we're really pleased to get him into the club. "He's a holding midfielder who can play centre-back as well. We have a way that we would like to play this season and having Jose is crucial to that." Semedo, who made 150 appearances for Charlton after joining from Sporting Lisbon in 2007, is Megson's fourth summer signing following the arrival of Rob Jones, David Prutton and Julian Bennett.
