Roma goalkeeper Alexander Doni is expected to complete his proposed move to Liverpool on Thursday, according to his agent.
The Brazilian shot-stopper has been linked with a switch to Anfield for some time and the protracted saga appears to be edging towards a conclusion.
An initial approach from the Reds collapsed earlier in the summer as Doni was unable to agree personal terms.
Liverpool returned to the table, though, and put an improved offer to the 31-year-old.
That has been deemed acceptable and Doni is now set to rubber-stamp a transfer to England.
"We should close the deal by the end of the day," Doni's representative, Ovidio Colucci, told Impero Romanista.
"Of course anything could happen before the signatures are added to the contracts but I can confirm that there is only Liverpool for Doni.
"The only concrete offer has come from Liverpool and we hope to wrap everything up by this evening."
