Skysports.com understands Bournemouth have agreed a fee with Charlton for defender Simon Francis.
Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury is keen to be reunited with his former Southend team-mate and has made him one of his top transfer targets.
Bournemouth had an initial bid for Francis turned down earlier this month, but it appears their new improved offer meets Charlton's asking price.
The 26-year-old has now been given permission to hold talks with Bournemouth about a possible switch to the South Coast.
If Francis agrees personal terms he will become Bournemouth's fourth signing of the summer following the captures of Adam Barrett, Darryl Flahavan and Steven Gregory.
