Bolton have opened contract talks with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Kevin Davies in the hope both will pen new deals.
Finnish goalkeeper Jaaskelainen remains an integral part of the first-team set-up at the Reebok, especially with Ali Al Habsi having been offloaded to Wigan, and he has been offered a two-year extension.
England international Davies is the Trotters' captain and they are keen for him to prolong his eight-year association with the club.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is working hard to bring fresh faces into his squad, while trying to fend off interest in Gary Cahill, but is aware of the need to keep two of his most experienced heads on board.
"Contract negotiations are something that the chairman tends to deal with," Coyle said.
"But it's fair to say there are clearly players that I want to keep at this football club.
"We'll do the best by them, and by the club, but I believe that both of those players would love to stay here. I'd certainly want them to as manager.
"Those discussions are always ongoing and when we've got something concrete to say on it, we will."
Both players are in the final year of their contracts but are expected to sign up until 2014.
