Watford manager Sean Dyche says new signing David Mirfin is 'what I call a man' after landing the defender on a two-year contract.
Skysports.com revealed earlier on Monday that Mirfin was poised to finalise a move to Watford following the end of his Scunthorpe United contract.
Mirfin opted to leave the Iron following their relegation to League One and Dyche is looking forward to having the 26-year-old in his plans next season.
"He's got experience and he's what I call a man," Dyche told the club's official website.
"David is aware we've got defenders who have done a great job for us and it isn't a problem for him - he said he wants to come and prove that he can do it.
"He's someone who we think has challenged hard at a club who've had tough tests every season.
"For me, he's proved he can stand up to that test and we want to put pressure on our defenders in terms of competition for a place in that starting line-up."
