Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes believes the new Premier League campaign will be tougher than ever.
Spurs impressed many last season by challenging for a UEFA Champions League place while they also enjoyed a great European adventure.
Tottenham will be expected to compete on most fronts again this term as manager Harry Redknapp has assembled a talented squad in north London.
However, despite enjoying a break-through campaign last time around, Gomes is not expecting teams to give Spurs an easy ride.
"I think (the South Africa trip) will be ideal preparation for us and we have to be ready for the start of the season," commented Gomes.
"We know it will be tougher than ever because everyone knows about Tottenham now and what we can do."
Gomes will be back in South Africa having spent the past two summers in the nation with Brazil for the Confederations Cup and World Cup tournaments.
The 30-year-old loves the passion of the locals and is relishing the prospect is playing in the state-of-the-art stadiums.
"First of all, the people are so friendly and they love football," said Gomes.
"They love to be at the stadium and as everyone knows from the World Cup, the atmosphere is special, a lot different to other countries. It's a great atmosphere to play football in.
"The stadiums are also fantastic and South Africa did very well for the World Cup. The feeling for the game there is unbelievable.
