Skysports.com understands Gillingham are poised to sign Peterborough duo Charlie Lee and Chris Whelpdale.
The midfield pair impressed during a spell on loan at Gillingham last season and Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has moved to bring both players back to the club on a permanent basis.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson is prepared to let the midfield pair move on despite helping them win promotion to the Championship last season.
Lee and Whelpdale are both thought to have undergone medicals and agreed personal terms at the League Two club.
The double signing is something of a coup for Gillingham as they look to build a side capable of winning promotion from League Two next season.
