Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of midfielder Oscar Gobern on a two-year contract from Southampton.

Gobern was recently linked with a move to the Galpharm Stadium after failing to agree a new deal with Championship new boys Southampton.

The 20-year-old was attracting interest from several clubs and Terriers boss Lee Clark is delighted to have snapped up Gobern.

"Oscar is a young player who has caught my eye whenever I have seen him play for the young England teams or Southampton," Clark told the club's official website.

"He's a fantastic athlete standing at 6' 3" tall. He has a cultured left foot and he is very good on the ball, so we're looking forward to working with him.

"We want to help him improve and continue his development, as we have done with a number of young players here.

"He had a number of Championship clubs interested in him and was talking to Southampton about a new deal, but he has seen this club is on an upwards curve and he wants to be a part of it."

Southampton are entitled to compensation for Gobern, but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement regarding a fee.
