Dundee United have confirmed that they have turned down an offer from Rangers for David Goodwillie.
The 22-year-old striker has long been linked with a move away from Tannadice, with Rangers and Cardiff heading the chase for the Scotland international.
The SPL champions were the first to submit a formal bid, but United have told the Ibrox giants they will have to increase their offer to get their man.
A United spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a bid from Rangers for David Goodwillie.
"The bid has been rejected because it does not meet our valuation."
Rangers boss Ally McCoist is also waiting for an answer from Hearts after he tabled a new bid for full-back Lee Wallace.
