Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has laughed off reports Manchester City are targeting Ezequiel Lavezzi.
City have been linked with a host of top players across Europe given the vast financial backing they enjoy from owner Sheikh Mansour.
But City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed he had considered the possibility of bringing Lavezzi to Eastlands this summer.
The Italian manager said he was put off by the 30million euros (over £26m) it would cost to meet the 26-year-old forward's buy-out clause.
However, De Laurentiis claims there has been no contact from anyone at City regarding the Argentina international.
"We all have the money but we are here and no one has called us, hence this story makes me laugh," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"My dear Mancini, I am sorry for you. Evidently, you anticipate moves of the Sheikh that are not true to reality."
Lavezzi, who is under contract until June 2015, scored six goals in 22 games to help Napoli finish third in Serie A.
