Caen chairman Jean-Francois Fortin is expecting in-demand striker Youssef El-Arabi to join Genoa.
The Moroccan forward had been linked with a move to England at one stage this summer, with Stoke and Wolves reported to be expressing an interest.
No bids were lodged, though, and the 24-year-old has remained on the market.
It now appears as though he will be on his way to Italy, with interest in his services mounting within Serie A.
Genoa are understood to be leading the chase and Fortin has resigned himself to the fact that El-Arabi will soon be on the move.
"Youssef will leave us," he told RMC.
"If he can continue evolving in his career by moving on, it would be wrong to prevent him from doing that.
"He is going to go abroad. I have had notable contact with Genoa."
Reports in France claim El-Arabi is yet to thrash out terms with Genoa, but a €6million (£5.4m) agreement is already in place with Caen.
