Gus Poyet says he would be prepared to sign Kazenga LuaLua on another loan deal if Brighton & Hove Albion are unable to agree a permanent deal for the Newcastle United winger.
LuaLua has enjoyed two previous loan spells with the Seagulls, although last season's stint was cut short by injury.
Brighton have held talks regarding a permanent arrangement for LuaLua which would make the 20-year-old the club's record signing.
However, a fee has yet to be settled upon with Newcastle and Poyet is keeping an open mind about how to ensure LuaLua is in his squad next season.
"It's not an easy one," the Brighton boss told The Argus. "There are many options.
"My first impression was we would be able to buy him.
"It's negotiations. Things change when you negotiate. We would buy him if the numbers are right.
"They are negotiations so there is not much more I can say."
Regarding the possibility of another loan deal, Poyet added: "Yes, depending on the length of the loan. We will try and sort this out as soon as possible."
