Sinama-Pongolle set for France

Former Liverpool striker set for St Etienne move

Ligue 1 outfit St Etienne are set to sign striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

The much-travelled French forward is expected to sign for Les Verts on an initial loan deal with the option of permanent a transfer thereafter.

Sinama-Pongolle, 26, is expected at the club on Monday when he will take his medical and agree personal terms.

The player will be joining his eighth club, having come through the youth system at Le Havre before going on to play for Liverpool, Blackburn, Recreativo Huelva and Atletico Madrid before joining Sporting in 2010.

The Lisbon giants loaned him out to Real Zaragoza last term, where he scored four goals.

St Etienne, who finished 10th in their domestic league last season, are looking to build a competitive squad under head coach Christophe Galtier.
