Macclesfield Town have snapped up former Manchester City youngster Scott Kay on a one-year contract.

Kay left City at the end of last season after failing to make a first-team appearance during his time at the Premier League club.

The holding midfielder came through the ranks at City and was on the bench for last season's Europa League tie against Juventus.

However, he has now been offered the opportunity to make his professional debut after securing a contract with League Two side Macclesfield.

Kay's signing follows on from the Silkmen's capture of former Accrington Stanley full-back Jon Bateson on a one-year deal on Friday.
