Auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga hopes to seal a summer move to Lyon as he seeks out a fresh challenge.
The 23-year-old has come through the ranks with the Burgundy club and feels the time is right to move to a more 'exclusive' club.
Ndinga had reportedly been attracting interest from England, but he has confirmed he would like to stay in French football next season.
The Congo international sees Lyon as the ideal club to continue to improve and develop and hopes to have the chance to move.
"A club like Lyon is what I need, it would be a good challenge for me," he told L'Equipe.
"If there is a chance to play at this club I would not hesitate. If the chance to join Lyon presents itself then yes, it would interest me.
"The time has come for me to prove myself at a more exclusive club."
Ndinga held discussions with ex-Auxerre boss Jean Fernandez prior to the end of last season regarding his intentions, but made it clear he would not rock the boat.
He added: "I would not get involved in a stand-off, but the president knows what I want."
