Magpies defender admits Baggies draw was not best finale

Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has set his sights on improving on last season's mid-table finish. The Magpies report back for pre-season training on 4th July and Taylor is keen to make amends for the way the last campaign ended. The St James' Park outfit brought the curtain down on a relatively successful season with a 3-3 home draw with West Brom after throwing away a three-goal lead. Alan Pardew has already bolstered his squad with three new signings in the shape of Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Sylvain Marveaux and 25-year-old Taylor believes the new boys will help Newcastle progress. "The players felt disappointed in ourselves and disappointed for the fans that afternoon, because I think they expected us to either get more goals in the second half or at least see the game out," Taylor told the club's official website. "It wasn't a nice way to end things last season, but overall we did well and next season we can improve. "We finished 12th so hopefully we can do even better."
