David Preece has penned a new contract at Barnsley that will keep him at the club for another 12 months.
The 34-year-old has agreed to stay on at Oakwell for another year despite being the Tykes' back-up goalkeeper.
He has been restricted to just seven first-team outings following his arrival in 2009.
Luke Steele remains Barnsley's undisputed first-choice between the sticks, with new manager Keith Hill expected to stand by him next season.
Preece is prepared to bide his time, though, and wait for opportunities to present themselves.
The experienced shot-stopper has previously been on the books of Sunderland, Darlington, Aberdeen, Silkeborg and OB over the course of a 16-year career.
