Swansea City have had a bid rejected for Middlesbrough's Leroy Lita, skysports.com understands.
The Swans are looking to bolster their forward options ahead of their maiden Premier League campaign and are taking a keen interest in Boro.
Former Swansea loanee Marvin Emnes remains a target for the club but they are also now looking at his team-mate Lita.
Ex-England Under-21 star Lita had his best season for a number of years last term with 12 league goals.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray is a confirmed fan, but with the Teesside club still looking to cut their wage bill, Lita could move if a suitable offer is made.
However, Swansea's opening salvo, believed to be less than £1million, is way below Boro's valuation of a player they signed on a free transfer in 2009.
Interestingly Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has just returned to Britain following a charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro - something he did with Boro chairman Steve Gibson.
