Michael Ballack claims he has been treated with total disrespect by Germany coach Joachim Loew.
The former Germany skipper has called an offer to end his international career with a friendly game against Brazil next month a 'farce'.
Loew has called time on using the former Bayern Munich and Chelsea midfielder, insisting a number of talented younger players deserve their opportunity.
The German football federation has offered 34-year-old Ballack a 99th and last international appearance in a friendly, which was arranged some time ago.
But the Bayern Leverkusen man has hit out at the offer, saying: "The style and content of the statement (by Loew) are unfortunately exactly like the way he (has) treated me since my serious injury last summer.
"To call a friendly match that was arranged long ago a farewell match is a farce in my opinion. I know I owe my fans this match but I cannot accept the offer."
Ballack has not played for Germany since the national side lost 1-0 to Argentina in Munich in a friendly last March.
