Morocco international Mehdi Taouil has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at SPL outfit Hearts.
The 28-year-old attacking midfielder put the finishing touches to his move on Tuesday after successfully coming through a medical on Monday.
Taouil was a free agent after his contract at SPL rivals Kilmarnock expired at the end of last season.
Hearts boss Jim Jefferies took the Moroccan to Rugby Park in 2007 during his spell as Killie boss and expects the player to make a positive impression at Tynecastle.
He told Hearts News: "Hearts supporters like to see special talent and he has that in his locker.
"It is a step up to a big club for him but if we can get him playing at his best, he is someone the fans will appreciate.
"He is something a little different to what we have and I'm confident he will be a good addition to the squad."
According to Hearts, Taouil had other offers on the table and Jefferies added: "He had a few options to join other clubs but I'm delighted to have got him.
"He is strong, a good passer of the ball and can hold it up well for others.
"He can also bring us something going forward from midfield and it is good to have that sometimes."
Jefferies has also recruited John Sutton, Jamie Hamill and Danny Grainger ahead of the new campaign.
