Pards admits no Jose progress

Boss admits no contract progress has been made with left-back

Enrique: Linked with a move away from St James' Park

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admits it does not look like Jose Enrique wants to deal with the club at present.

Speculation is rife the left-back could leave St James' Park, with Liverpool and Arsenal thought to be interested in the Spanish star.

Enrique has a year left on his current contract and Pardew admits no progress has been made in keeping him at the club.

The Newcastle boss told the Chronicle: "At the moment it looks like he doesn't want to deal with us.

No progress

"We have been asked to make him an offer but there has been no progress since then.

"I still hope we can do something but at the moment we're still waiting for Jose.

"I don't think there's anything more I can really add on that situation at this stage."
