The agent of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Akos Buzsaky has claimed Italian club Lecce wanted to sign his client last season.
Although QPR enjoyed an excellent campaign last term in winning promotion it proved to be one of frustration for Buzsaky as he made just 16 appearances for Neil Warnock's side due to injury.
The talented Hungary international is now fully fit though and ready to test himself at Premier League level.
Rumours have circulated about his future amid speculation Lecce are still monitoring his situation at QPR but while agent Vladan Filipovic acknowledges their interest, he insists the fans' favourite is staying at Loftus Road.
"Akos deserves to play in the Premier League," he told the Hungarian edition of FourFourTwo.
"I think it suits his style more than the Championship. It's useless to give credit to the reports that he'd be released because the club hasn't mentioned that to me, or him.
"Akos is an important QPR player. Last year Lecce wanted to sign him but the club officials didn't let him go.
"Flavio Briatore told me a couple of times that he's one of his favourite players."
