Genoa left-back Domenico Criscito has outlined his desire to play for Napoli.
Criscito is expected to leave Genoa this summer, and Serie A rivals Napoli appear favourites to secure his signature.
A fee in the region of €6million (£5.3m) is said to have been offered, and reports suggest the deal could be wrapped up in the coming days.
Criscito told Il Mattino: "I know nothing, but it would be nice to play in the team of my city.
"I read about it in newspapers and on the internet but my agent has not yet been contacted, nor from Naples, nor from Genoa.
"I would be thrilled to play in Napoli, and I've always said. But there are still many things to decide, I wouldn't say too much.
"I like challenges. Napoli have so many good players, and the team has qualified for the UEFA Champions League."
Meanwhile, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has announced the clubs plans to unveil a new signing on Monday.
Preziosi said: " He's a foreign player who is an international."
