Van Nistelrooy: Will complete deal to join La Liga side next season
Ruud van Nistelrooy has arrived in Malaga to complete a deal with the Primera Liga club.
The Dutch striker left Bundesliga side Hamburg at the end of the season on a free transfer and is set to complete a medical before agreeing terms with Malaga.
The former Manchester United hot shot will sign a deal for one season with the option of longer depending on matches played and number of goals scored.
And, with Malaga keen to strengthen their squad, Van Nistelrooy is relishing the prospect of joining a club fighting for a European place in 2011/12.
Van Nistelrooy, who is the second-highest goalscorer in Champions League history, was reportedly in talks with both Tottenham and Sunderland in the last few weeks.
But, with Malaga expected to announce the transfer on Wednesday evening, the 34-year-old looks ready to begin the latest chapter of his playing career in Spain's top flight.
And at La Rosaleda, Van Nistelrooy said: "This is a big sport project."
Van Nistelrooy joined Hamburg in January 2010 after four years at Real Madrid and having previously played for PSV Eindhoven.
While at Real Madrid, Van Nistelrooy scored 46 goals in the league, winning the award for top scorer in 2007.
