Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici hopes the club will be able to continue their strong form into next season despite heartbreak in the play-offs.

The Royals came into the play-off final riding a wave of momentum having won 10 of their previous 14 games, only to fall at the final hurdle.

Despite a heartbreaking 4-2 defeat to Swansea, Federici believes that the team's form was far too impressive for them to not be in the running when the new season arrives.

The Australian is hopeful that the team can put aside that disappointment to make sure of automatic promotion next time around with Brian McDermott at the helm.

"We've got a good squad here, one of the best in the league," said Federici.

"Hopefully we'll continue our good run of form into the start of next season.

"We were so close yet so far away. Next season we want to be going up automatically.

"We've got a great manager and a great system. Everything is ready to go again next season."
