Atletico Madrid have admitted that they fully expect David De Gea to finalise a move to Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson has already confirmed the club are closing in on De Gea as a replacement for the retiring Edwin van der Sar.
The player himself insisted he had not agreed anything, but Atletico's chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin admits he is Old Trafford-bound.
"My feeling is that he will go to United"
Miguel Angel Gil Marin Quotes of the week
"My feeling is that he will go to United," Gil Marin confirmed to Radio Marca.
"We made him an offer for six years to multiply his salary, but we have heard nothing.
"With De Gea and his mother, it seems they will not accept."
Gil Marin insisted that they would never keep a player against their will.
"The club is not a prison, and as with have shown with Sergio Aguero too, we do not want anyone who does not want to be here."
On Aguero, reports in the Spanish capital continue to insist that Real Madrid will try and push through a deal for the Argentina star.
Atletico, in theory, could not stop that move should Real meet his buy-out clause of €45million, and the player himself has refused to deny that he could end up switching to their city rivals.
But Gil Marin maintains that Real will not bid for Aguero as they had said they wouldn not make an approach.
"Florentino Perez [Real president] has pledged not to make an offer," he said.
"It is impossible Kun will end up in Madrid, he can go to any team that pays the full clause except Madrid.
"This is not about the money, but one of principle. He will not go there, either this year or next.
"Florentino authorised me to say that they will not conduct hostile operations like this."
One club who have made an approach is Juventus - but their offer is below their valuation.
"The only side which I have talked to are Juventus. I have been contacted by the Italian club, they have sent me a letter in which they have asked to negotiate for the player," he said.
"Last Monday we received a fax from the Bianconeri. They showed their interest, but we will only let Aguero go for €45m - and not a euro less."
Gil Marin claims that Aguero's revelation that he wants to quit the club came as a shock.
"In five seasons he has renewed his deal seven times and the relationship with the club until the last day has been unbeatable," he said.
"Although Quique [Sanchez Flores, Atletico coach] told me last week that his behaviour in the changing room was not the same.
"So for whatever reason he now wants to leave the club, but I can only refer to his clause - €45million - which needs to be met in full."
Gil Marin also spoke about Diego Forlan - who has seemingly fallen out of favour at the club and is the subject of a bid from Al Wasal - Diego Maradona's new club.
"He will go if someone comes in and meets our needs," he said.
"His relationship with the club has been hampered because he has not thought about the club."
"He asked my advice about moving to United...It is a great place to experience as a player"
Diego Forlan Quotes of the week
Forlan is unlikely to improve his relationship with the club by telling De Gea he should move to his former club United.
"David is a very good keeper with a bright future. He asked my advice about moving to United and we talked about it a lot," he said.
"It is a great place to experience as a player.
"The manager is a legend, the staff are all really good and the fans were always very supportive of me, even when I wasn't scoring."
