Reading have agreed a 'substantial' fee with Queens Park Rangers to sign midfielder Mikele Leigertwood on a three-year contract.
Leigertwood has lost just two games in 28 appearances in all competitions for Reading since moving to the Madejski Stadium on loan in November.
He has played a key role in the Royals reaching the Championship play-off final against Swansea City and will now stay with Brian McDermott's side for the long term.
"It goes without saying but I'm absolutely delighted," Leigertwood told the club's official website.
"I've been very happy since the first minute I came here, and long may that continue.
"I came in November but it feels like I've been here a while because I've been made so welcome by everybody, it's such a good club. It's been a good season - now I'm hoping it can get even better."
Reading boss McDermott added: "I knew from the first day Mikele came here that he would be perfect for Reading, and that has proved to be the case.
"I'm delighted he has joined us, not just because of his attributes as a player but also as a person, he has all the criteria that are good about professional footballers, all that the criteria that are good about Reading Football Club.
"He's very popular among the group, and we're looking forward to the next three years."
