Sergio Canales has admitted he will sit down with Real Madrid to discuss his future next week and revealed his interest in a possible move to Primera Liga rivals Villarreal.
The 20-year-old Canales joined Real for €6million from Racing Santander last summer but has played just 10 league games under Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho urged Canales, who is contracted until the summer of 2016, to be patient but the midfielder said he was growing frustrated.
"I want and I need to play. Being at Real Madrid is incredible but I have to get more minutes," Canales told Marca. "I will talk with the club next week and we will see.
"I knew it was going to be hard at Madrid but not this hard. However, it has not been a lost season because I have learnt a lot and can take out some positives."
Villarreal have emerged as the frontrunners for Canales' signature and the youngster admitted it was an enticing prospect.
"Villarreal are a great team and I am not going to deny that," added Canales.
