Inter Milan have insisted there is no truth in reports linking Maicon with a move away from the club.
Speculation has surfaced over the past few days about a possible summer departure after the Brazilian returned to his homeland, with the Coppa Italia final still to come this weekend.
However, Inter have now put out a statement to clarify that Maicon was given permission to make the trip to deal with private matters.
"Internazionale wishes to reiterate that Maicon, who is suspended for next Sunday's Coppa Italia final, has been granted leave for personal reasons, as explained by Leonardo during last Saturday's press conference before Inter v Catania," read the official statement.
"The recent media speculation regarding the player is therefore both incomprehensible and entirely groundless."
Palermo are the opponents on Sunday as Leonardo's men look to finish a largely disappointing season on a high.
