Skysports.com understands West Ham are offering Danny Gabbidon a new deal to keep him at Upton Park.
Gabbidon has been one of West Ham's shining lights this season despite their relegation from the Premier League, making 27 appearances.
The 31-year-old's current contract expires next month and it was feared Gabbidon could leave on a free transfer.
A number of clubs were thought to be waiting in the wings to sign the versatile defender, but West Ham have moved to try and secure his future.
Hammers officials have now opened talks with Gabbidon's representatives over a new deal as they look to keep the player for next season's assault on an immediate return to the Premier League.
