Phil Edwards believes Accrington's play-off exploits should hold them in good stead as they bid to win promotion next season.
John Coleman's men were beaten 3-0 on aggregate by Stevenage in their play-off semi-final after losing the second leg 1-0 on Friday.
But despite the disappointment of not making it to Old Trafford, defender Edwards feels that Stanley's highest-ever points total and league position is a solid platform to build on next term.
"Obviously we're proud of what we've done, but at this particular moment we're down because we haven't got where we wanted to be," he said.
"Overall it has been a good season and we've now got to try and learn from this play-off experience and maybe get up automatically next time."
