Agent says on-loan Wigan forward wants to make deal permanent

Mauro Boselli's agent has revealed the striker would like to turn his loan move from Wigan to Genoa into a permanent deal. The 25-year-old made the switch to Italy in January after failing to show his best form for Wigan during the first half of the season. Boselli had arrived at the DW Stadium from Estudiantes last summer with a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in Argentine football. He has looked more like his old self in Serie A and scored a last-gasp winner in Sunday's derby against Sampdoria. Boselli's representative, Jose Iribarren, hopes Genoa will look to keep him beyond the end of the season, but is not aware of any negotiations between the clubs at the current time.

Derby joy

"Mauro has a contract with Genoa until 30th June, and the club has an option for take him definitively," Iribarren told calciomercatoweb.it. "Is the price set at €7million? It is a little less. "Mauro would like to remain in Genoa, but right now I don't think there has been a meeting between the clubs. "We hope that they buy him, because he is very happy with his team-mates, the club and the city." Boselli also expressed his delight after making the decisive contribution in the 'Derby of the Lantern'. "It is a great sensation, I dedicate it to all these people," he said. "We wanted to win the derby to give joy to our fans and we did."
