A host of clubs have been alerted to Ian Henderson's possible availability after his talks with Colchester United stalled, skysports.com understands.
The 26-year-old forward had been in talks over a new deal at the Weston Homes Community Stadium - with his current deal due to expire this summer.
However, it is understood those talks have now stalled and Henderson is attracting interest from rival clubs.
Henderson finished the season as top scorer for Colchester with 10 league goals and he was the only one of their players to hit double figures.
Now Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United are all watching his situation carefully and could be ready to mount a bid for the former Norwich man.
