Didier Drogba believes that Chelsea team-mate Florent Malouda deserves more respect for his achievements.
Malouda has come under fire this season, with some suggesting his days at Stamford Bridge were numbered.
The Frenchman exploded out of the blocks at the start of the campaign, scoring six goals in his first five Premier League games.
But he found the net only three more times until a month ago, when his winner against Wigan sparked a run of five successive league victories.
He also has three goals in his past three matches and is now the club's leading scorer in the league this season with 13.
That tally has played a major part in putting Chelsea on the brink of the greatest comeback in Premier League title history ahead of Sunday's showdown with Manchester United.
Team-mate Drogba told his club's official website: "Florent is now our league top scorer. I think he has a lot of critics but it is not deserved.
"People should show a bit more respect for what he has been achieving here."
Drogba is two league goals behind Malouda on 11, having smashed in 29 last season.
"There is no rivalry over that," said the Ivory Coast star, who was laid low by malaria earlier this season.
"I know where I am coming from. I was out for a while and I was sick and I am happy that my form is coming back."
