Hammers defender offers support to manager

West Ham defender Lars Jacobsen says the players are to blame for their struggles and not manager Avram Grant. The Hammers are fighting for their lives as they are bottom of the Premier League with just three games left in the season. Grant has come under fire for West Ham's poor form with reports suggesting the club are looking at possible replacements for the Israeli should they fail to secure survival. However, Jacobsen believes it unfair to shift all the blame on the shoulders on Grant and claims the players must take a good at themselves for the below-par showings this term. "I can only speak for myself, and I've enjoyed working with him [Grant] and I've had a good season under him," Jacobsen told onside.dk. "It may well be that we have not got the points we should, but you never know if it would have been different with another manager. "As a player you need to look at yourself. "It's us playing and it would be very wrong for a player to criticize the manager. "It is us players who need to look at ourselves and perhaps we should have done better during the season."
