Duff: Will miss the remaining games of the season after undergoing an Achilles operation
Fulham winger Damien Duff has undergone an Achilles operation and will miss the club's final three games of the season.
Duff has been troubled by the injury for several weeks and has not featured for Fulham since the 3-0 home win over Blackpool at the start of April.
The Cottagers expect the Republic of Ireland international to be sidelined for six weeks, bringing the 32-year-old's season to a premature conclusion.
"It just got to the point where one course of treatment was compromising another course of treatment," said Fulham boss Mark Hughes.
"We made a decision that the best route was to get it sorted."
Former Chelsea wide man Duff will now miss the games against Liverpool next Monday, plus the trip to Birmingham City and final day visit of Arsenal.
He will also sit out Ireland's Carling Nations Cup fixtures against Northern Ireland and Scotland later this month, and the June Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia.
Duff had been named in Giovanni Trapattoni's provisional 33-man squad on Wednesday, but his selection always hinged on the state of his fitness.
