Swindon Town full-back Alan Sheehan is expected to link up with Preston North End for a week's training.

Sheehan is tipped to leave Swindon following the club's relegation from League One and will be trying to earn a move to Preston.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Robins on a permanent basis from Leeds United last summer, was left out of the squad for Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Oldham Athletic.

Caretaker Swindon boss Paul Bodin expressed his disappointment that Sheehan had been looking to secure a transfer away from the County Ground.

Bodin told the Swindon Advertiser: "He has had his good performances but he has been inconsistent and once you get to the stage where players are looking to get away before the season is finished it really disappoints me."

Preston will be playing in the third tier next season after their relegation from the Championship and manager Phil Brown is keen to freshen up his squad.
