Poyet happy to reward midfield pair with two-year contracts

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielders Liam Bridcutt and Gary Dicker have signed new two-year contracts with the League One champions. Bridcutt and Dicker have been influential performers in helping the Seagulls to clinch promotion to the Championship this season. The duo had been attracting interest from rival clubs and Brighton boss Gus Poyet is happy to have secured their futures at the Withdean Stadium. "Gary and Liam have been consistent performers for the club this season, and as key members of the team, particularly with their contract situation, I wasn't surprised of the reported interest from Championship clubs, so it is good news that we have agreed new deals for the next two seasons," Poyet told the club's official website. "Gary has been excellent this season. He has a great range of passing and the way he plays suits the style of football we play. "So too Liam, who I am sure has surprised a few people this season - but not me. He's got better as the season has progressed and has got more used to us and the way we play." Teenage Norwegian striker Torbjorn Agdestein has also been rewarded with a new one-year contract by Poyet following his arrival last summer. Poyet added: "Torbjorn has made real progress since last August, and while he still has to make the breakthrough to the first team and step up from the development squad, if he keeps working as hard as he has this season, I hope it won't be long before he makes an impact on the senior squad."
