Celtic have announced that midfielder Joe Ledley will play no part in the run-in due to a hamstring injury.
Ledley passed a late fitness test to play in Sunday's Old Firm derby at Ibrox but had to be replaced early in the second half.
It was thought that he had suffered a recurrence of the hamstring problem that had made him doubtful and Ledley admitted on Tuesday morning that he feared his season was over.
The Welshman stated that he had been in agony ever since coming off and could 'barely walk'.
Celtic have now confirmed on their official website that he sustained a different injury to his upper hamstring and will not be able to return to action before the end of the campaign.
The news will come as a major setback to Celtic manager Neil Lennon as he hopes to steer his side to the SPL title.
The weekend stalemate left the Bhoys one point behind their Glasgow rivals but with a game in hand.
Celtic also face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park on 21st May.
