Emir Spahic has confirmed that he will leave Montpellier this summer, preferably for the Premier League.

The Bosnian centre-half has endured a troubled season in France, missing 14 games through suspension.

He is now ready to cut his losses in Ligue 1 and make a fresh start elsewhere.

Spahic admits that he would relish the opportunity to take in a spell in England, but claims to have numerous other options to consider.

"I will leave France this summer because it has become difficult to stay," he told Le Parisien.

"Even though I am a professional under contract at Montpellier, where people are supporting me, I will be playing in a different country next season.

"My preference would be England, but there have been other contacts."
