Barnsley have cancelled the contract of Scotland international Garry O'Connor
The 27-year-old only joined Barnsley on a permanent basis in December after impressing on loan from Birmingham.
O'Connor was handed a short-term deal in December by the Tykes, but he has failed to win an extension.
The former Hibernian hit-man has not scored in his last seven games and Barnsley boss Mark Robins admitted he was disappointed things did not work out for O'Connor.
"The time's right for a parting of the ways. There's only so much you can do," Robins told Radio Sheffield.
"You're always disappointed if it doesn't have the desired effect."
