Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic insists Chris Smalling has enjoyed a great debut season.
Although the former Fulham stopper is seen as one for the future, he has filled in well when given a chance at the back.
Smalling has made 13 Premier League appearances for The Red Devils while he has also impressed in their UEFA Champions League campaign.
Vidic is a seasoned campaigner and the ex-Spartak Moscow man believes his young team-mate has a big future ahead of him.
"Chris has done very well," the Serbian told United Review.
"He didn't have any trouble stepping into the team and he showed everybody how good a player he is.
"It has been a great season for him and he has a big future in front of him.
"He is only 21, so it is a massive achievement for him to have played so many games at his age for this club."
