Promising defender Kevin Theophile-Catherine has signed a two-year contract extension at Rennes.
The 21-year-old has become a first-team regular this season, helping Rennes to remain in the Ligue 1 title race.
His ongoing development has seen him rewarded with a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2014.
The France youth international's current contract was due to expire at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
Meanwhile, Rennes have been rocked by the news that Alexander Tettey could miss the remainder of the season.
The midfielder has suffered a thigh injury which will require a lengthy period of rest.
Tettey picked up the knock in training and medical tests have revealed that he has torn a muscle.
No timescale has been put on his recovery but, with only seven weeks of the season remaining, he faces a race against time to make the run-in.
