The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the top young talents in Ligue 1.

Having also become a full international, he has now decided that after four years this summer will be the time for him to depart the Pink City.

Sissoko, who has two years left on his current deal with the club, has been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

''I've had four years at Toulouse, four years in which I have really progressed. Maybe it's time for me to look elsewhere. Maybe a new challenge is needed for me to reach the next level," he told L'Equipe.

New challenge

''I need a new challenge. I need to be playing in the Champions League, quite simply. In my head, yes, I would like to go elsewhere. Everything else is out of my control.''

Toulouse have reacted in a manner that does not suggest they are ready to sell.

''Leaving this summer? I do not agree at all,'' said coach Alain Casanova.

''For me, Moussa is not the finished article. He has not had a good season this year.''

Club president Olivier Sadran added: ''He has had a very average season. For him to go (where he wants) would take a disproportionate offer.

"Regarding his current performances, I doubt he will be able to move.''
