David Luiz has revealed he joined Chelsea to satisfy his lust for silverware and to become one of the best players in the world.
The 23-year-old Brazilian joined the Premier League champions in January from Benfica in a deal worth £21million.
He has been an instant hit with the Stamford Bridge faithful with his sumptuous skills and trademark mop of hair endearing him to the Blues fans.
"I've joined a big club like Chelsea to win trophies and to continue improving as a player," he told the Sunday Mirror.
"The Premier league is the best league in the world, so I feel lucky that I have been given the opportunity to come and play here."
Luiz was one of the most sought-after players in Europe during the winter transfer window but, after Chelsea's interest became apparent, there was only ever one destination.
"I could have joined other clubs, but Chelsea matches my own ambitions," he added.
"They were always my first choice once I knew of their interest. From that moment I wanted come here. They want success as much as I do and they have some great players.
"Great players make you a better player, and there was also the attraction of playing against some of the best players in football."
